What are these called?

it's been bugging me all day. what are those little dolls called that kinda look like.. an unwrapped mummy I guess. a brownish skeleton with long troll hair. they dont really have bodies.. just an upper chest. I'm not sure if it's a native american thing or some hawaiin or island voodoo... does anyone have any information on them? thanks!!
