"Lidia's Italy" PBS cooking show & Joe Bastianich?

Joe Bastianich is Lidia Bastianich's son who makes occasional appearances. Good Lord I find this guy is just droll and conceited. For someone in the restaurant and media industries (I understand he was involved in some sort of cooking competition program with top chefs some time ago) he speaks in a monotone voice, projects no personality, and worst never ever smiles that I can recall. Just caught a fairly recent episode where his pre-teen daughter accompanied him on the show. Poor child looks fearful of him. One would never know that he's related to the effervescent Lidia, his mother. Does anyone else notice this?
