How to fly with an Ukulele?

All packed up and ready to go, but my original travel plans for my ukulele have changed! On Tuesday, my girlfriend and I are flying down to Key West, FL. to meet up with my cousin's band, Modern Bliss, to play at Sloppy Joes. Now, they are leaving on Sunday, but their entire weekend is jam packed with shows. They leave at 6 AM on Sunday morning, and unless I can get my uke to one of the members by then I have to take the ukulele on my flight down, instead of it driving down with them in their climate controlled Gig Van. My question is what preparation standards should I take to fly with my ukulele?
